[CIBF2025] The Global Energy Transformation Wave Surges Forward—Together Shaping a Green Future

2025/07/30

        Amidst the global narrative of an accelerated transition toward green, low-carbon energy systems, the new energy industry is reshaping the world economic landscape with groundbreaking technologies. From May 15 to 17, 2025, the 17th Shenzhen International Battery Technology Exchange & Exhibition (CIBF2025), hailed as the "global benchmark for the battery industry," officially kicked off at the Shenzhen International Convention and Exhibition Center.

Crafted with dedication by the China Association of Chemical and Physical Power Sources Industry, CIBF has evolved over more than three decades through 16 innovative editions, establishing itself as a global leader in pioneering technological advancements, a comprehensive ecosystem integration platform, and a pivotal hub for cross-sector innovation coordination. This year's event is themed "Connecting the Globe, Empowering Green Growth, and Driving the Future," focusing on the battery technology revolution and collaborative innovation across the entire industry chain. It brings together world-class enterprises, cutting-edge research institutions, and industry leaders, injecting powerful momentum into the global energy transition.

Global race to lead the new energy sector, building a super ecosystem platform

        The International Energy Agency (IEA) predicts that global battery demand will surge to 3,500 GWh by 2030, and China, leveraging its comprehensive industrial advantages across the entire value chain, is leading the way in driving global technological advancements and shaping industry standards. As a "leading indicator" and "accelerator" for China's new energy battery industry, CIBF2025 is seizing this historic opportunity to undergo a full-scale upgrade, evolving into a super-platform that spans the entire battery industry—from materials and cells to equipment, recycling, and application.

        The exhibition has reached a new record in scale: the exhibition area has surpassed 300,000 square meters, drawing more than 3,200 outstanding global exhibitors and attracting over 400,000 professional visitors. The event boasts a significantly enhanced international presence, bringing together corporate decision-makers, research experts, and buyers from 18 countries across four continents to collaborate and explore opportunities together.

        The exhibition area plan showcases a forward-looking industry vision: featuring three major Green Energy Pavilions, four Advanced Materials Pavilions, seven Intelligent Manufacturing Pavilions, and one International Pavilion, presenting a comprehensive ecosystem—from groundbreaking material innovations to cutting-edge application scenarios. Among them, special pavilions like the "CATL Pavilion" and the "Photovoltaic Storage & Charging Exhibition Zone" highlight cross-sector solutions such as photovoltaic-storage synergy and smart grid integration. Additionally, the event introduces three new interactive zones: the Exhibition Check-in Area, the New Product Launch Zone, and the Overseas Buyer Negotiation Zone, offering attendees an immersive experience and a platform for targeted matchmaking, thereby fostering global trade collaboration.

Technological Breakthroughs and the Scene Revolution: Defining the Next Decade of Industry

        The next-generation battery technology cluster is booming: disruptive innovations like solid-state batteries, sodium-ion batteries, and lithium-metal batteries are on the cusp of mass production. CATL is reportedly set to debut its third-generation condensed-state battery, boasting an energy density exceeding 500 Wh/kg. Meanwhile, BYD will unveil the world’s first production-ready model of its all-solid-state battery line. Meanwhile, companies from Europe, the U.S., Japan, and South Korea are also gearing up to showcase breakthrough materials such as cobalt-free cathodes and silicon-carbon anodes, all competing on the global stage. To highlight these cutting-edge advancements, the exhibition features a dedicated "Disruptive Technology Experience Zone," serving as a vital bridge that transforms laboratory innovations into real-world industrial applications.

        Dual-wheel drive of digital intelligence and green closed-loop systems: AI-powered Battery Management Systems (BMS), a traceability platform for power battery "identity authentication," and advanced technologies for automated dismantling and cascade utilization will showcase China's leading position in battery lifecycle management. Wang Zeshen, Secretary-General of the China Association of Chemical and Physical Power Sources Industry, pointed out: "The future competition in the battery industry will hinge on ecosystem closed-loop systems and digital-intelligent capabilities. Chinese companies are reshaping the global value chain through technological innovation and the export of standards." The event saw the highly anticipated launch of the "2024 Lithium-Ion Battery Industry Blue Book" and the "Low-Altitude Aircraft Battery Standardization White Paper," along with the signing of several strategic cooperation memorandums aimed at advancing industry standardization and fostering sustainable development.

High-end summit brings together leaders to discuss a new paradigm for global energy governance.

  The exhibition was held concurrently with four high-end summits and over 200 academic presentations, offering an in-depth analysis of industry trends.

-CIBF2025 Advanced Battery Frontier Technology Symposium: Focusing on laboratory-level breakthroughs such as solid-state electrolytes and lithium-sulfur batteries;

- Electric Aviation and Next-Generation Battery Technology Forum: Exploring the Frontiers of High-Energy-Density Batteries in the Aerospace Field;

-CIBICS Battery Industry Cooperation Forum: Driving Cross-Border Industrial Chain Collaboration and Mutual Recognition of Standards;

- Isotope Nuclear Battery Workshop: Exploring the Future Potential of Nuclear Batteries in Deep Space Exploration and Specialized Applications.

Breaking the Impasse: China's Batteries Usher in Globalization 2.0

        Facing localization policies and technological barriers in Europe and America, Chinese battery companies are breaking the deadlock with a powerful combination of "technology + standards + ecosystem." Wang Zeshen proposed four strategic pathways: strengthening core technology innovation, deepening overseas localization strategies, leading the development of international standards, and fulfilling green and low-carbon commitments. The exhibition features a specially designed "International Pavilion," fostering competitive yet collaborative interactions between Chinese and foreign enterprises in areas such as resource circulation and recycling technologies, thereby propelling China's transformation from a "manufacturing powerhouse" to a "rule-setter."

Together Painting the Stars and Seas of Energy Transformation

        From incremental material innovations to empowering global ecosystems, CIBF2025 showcases how China’s new energy industry is defining "industry excellence" through the "depth of innovation." This grand event, bringing together global expertise, is not only a platform for technological showcase but also the very hub where the vision for a zero-carbon future takes root.
